3,4 million tons of waste are generated annually national-wide, at least 50% of that waste can be
recycled. However, today in Mongolia less than 10% of that waste is recycled. Sorting waste is very
important issue in order to increase recycling rate and promote sustainable use. Environment and
Tourism Department of Huvsgul province with cooperation of Mog Plastic LLC established place to
purchase recyclables in Murun city. There are 4 types of recyclables:
1 kg of plastic – 200 Tugrug
1 kg of plastic container – 500 Tugrug
1 kg of aluminum cans – 200 Tugrug
